Luke Stoughton

Global Head of Recruitment

I studied a BA in Spanish and MSc in International Relations at the University of Southampton before setting foot in the world of work. I joined The Information Lab as a Consultant in our Core Team in June 2015, having been a client of the company since 2011. My background in analytical roles in the banking and higher education sectors was a great help at the beginning during the steep learning curve of joining a company full of industry leading experts! As a Consultant I focused on enabling our clients across many industries harness the full potential of their data through the adoption of Tableau and Alteryx.

In recent years, as the company has expanded, new opportunities have arisen and my role shifted towards Data School recruitment, which has been a great learning experience but a lot of fun. I love meeting new people, and working in recruitment has allowed me to have close interactions with prospective candidates. Guiding them through the recruitment process, from initial conversations or enquiries, to assisting with their applications, hiring them and witnessing their growth even after their tenure at The Data School has been an incredibly fulfilling experience.

It's been a fantastic (and very busy!) few years growing recruitment in the UK from 24 people per year to 72 and being part of setting up a new business in New York. We now have a great team looking after candidates in all locations.

Not much time for sleeping!

Away from work, you'll find me enjoying time with my family - my wife, teenage daughter, and our two labradors. I lived in Singapore as a child which has instilled a love of travelling and experiencing different cultures, particularly if it involves spicy food. Sports have always been a significant part of my life, I play cricket to a high level in the summer and competitive table tennis in the winter.

I love music and have played the guitar since age 16, playing in a band for several years. This has led to a (rather expensive) hobby of collecting and trading electric guitars.

I am always open to meaningful conversations and eager to explore how data can continue to shape and enhance our understanding of the world around us.
