Louisa O'Brien

Core Consulting Lead

Hello! I'm Louisa, I'm a Core Consulting Lead in the UK (along with my colleague Andy). I've been with TIL since August 2018, where I was a member of DS10 - the 10th cohort of our Data School programme. Before working at TIL, I worked internationally in consumer goods and in the transport sector, along with some public sector experience, and the kinds of data problems which arise in those industries still fascinate me today.

I'm passionate about decision making and behavioural science - in consulting engagements, this often leads me to doing a lot of pipeline and data science work, and that also means I'm one of TIL's enablement nerds - what's the point in having access to great tools, if we don't know how to use them? As a consultant, I've been lucky enough to work the entire length of a product pipeline, from ingestion to decision making, and also with clients at different stages of their analytic journey - from nervous first steps to fully data-led.

It is my working ambition to leave places better than how I found them, so while at TIL I spearheaded the improvement of our mental health provision for staff. As Core Consulting Lead, I advocate for our Core Consultants in decisions which involve them, work with them on developing and reforming their talents to ensure they have the skills and courage to face increasingly complex client requirements, and develop processes to ensure we work in harmony with our other teams, across the Data School, TIL UK or internationally.

Outside work, my main activity is movement - I'm often found in the gym and enjoy disciplines like yoga and combat sports, to occupy my busy mind. Away from the gym, I'm a very curious person so I love reading and travelling to learn about new people, cultures and ways of doing things.
