Dan Farmer

Account Manager

My career in data began during my degree in 1999, battling with ArcInfo and C++ in an attempt to model historical European climate change. I then spent several years as a software developer and network architect in the legal and education sectors before returning to the world of data, firstly as an intelligence analyst and then holding strategic data and operational research roles within the emergency services sector.

After seeing first-hand how Tableau and Alteryx could be used to identify and drive organisational change within blue-light agencies, I joined the Information Lab in 2017, consulting for several years before leading the company’s Consultant Support team. In 2023 I made the jump to account management, where I now help our Public Sector clients solve their analytical challenges.

On the road

Wilderness travel has formed a huge part of my life since my first solo backpacking trip in 1997 and over the last 20 years I have been lucky enough to spend time hiking over six continents (Antarctica you are on the list!) Closer to home I enjoy regular trips to the British mountains and am currently in training to become a Mountain Leader.

Closer to home I am an avid sports fan and athlete, being a keen runner and football supporter (both 'standard' and US variants!) as well as holding an ECB Level 2 coaching certification in cricket. I love music and have played acoustic guitar for almost 30 years. I'm also a secret history buff and enjoy spending time down rabbit holes researching my family and local area.
